{"id":268,"date":"2010-02-05T20:50:42","date_gmt":"2010-02-06T01:50:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.annakatedonovan.com\/?p=268"},"modified":"2010-02-06T15:09:35","modified_gmt":"2010-02-06T20:09:35","slug":"sometimes-you-gotta-have-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/?p=268","title":{"rendered":"sometimes you gotta have faith&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today our middle daughter, Hattie, had an outpatient procedure to put tubes in her ears and remove her adenoids.\u00a0 In the grand scheme of things it was not a big deal.\u00a0 We have been through this twice before.\u00a0 Hattie had her first set of tubes 3 weeks after her 1st birthday.\u00a0 Laura got tubes less than a year ago.\u00a0 Hattie breezed through and is already feeling and hearing better.\u00a0 No biggie.\u00a0 Our past experiences made today much easier for us as parents.\u00a0 This wasn&#8217;t the case when Laura got her pacemaker two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>As many of you know, Laura was born with 3rd degree heart block.\u00a0 In lay terms, it is an electrical problem.\u00a0 The top and bottom halves of her heart do not communicate with each other about what her heart rate should be.\u00a0 She will have a pacemaker to correct this problem for the rest of her life.\u00a0 (I know that I am being overly simplistic.\u00a0 It&#8217;s easier for writer and reader alike, I promise!)<\/p>\n<p>As parents, we have a heavy burden.\u00a0 There is a lot involved with raising children.\u00a0 It is an enormous responsibility to be &#8220;in charge&#8221;
