{"id":294,"date":"2010-02-13T21:07:30","date_gmt":"2010-02-14T02:07:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.annakatedonovan.com\/?p=294"},"modified":"2010-02-13T21:07:30","modified_gmt":"2010-02-14T02:07:30","slug":"lovehate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/?p=294","title":{"rendered":"love\/hate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are several things that I have a love\/hate relationship with.\u00a0 The dishwasher.\u00a0 I love to load it up to the max.\u00a0 I love how clean it gets my dishes.\u00a0 I hate unloading it.\u00a0 Always have.\u00a0 I love where we live but I hate how far we are from our family.\u00a0 I love dogs.\u00a0 I hate dog breath and scooping poop.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just part of life.\u00a0 You&#8217;re not going to love everything.\u00a0 Trade-offs come with being human.<\/p>\n<p>Today, my focus is on my relationship with a bunk bed.\u00a0 When I was pregnant with Laura, we moved Hattie out of the nursery and into Abigail&#8217;s room.\u00a0 We bought a bunk bed because that room was too small for two twin beds.\u00a0 Let me rephrase.\u00a0 If we had put two twin beds in that room, we couldn&#8217;t have fit anything else.\u00a0 So, Abigail &#8220;graduated&#8221; to the top bunk.\u00a0 Hattie moved from her crib into the bottom bunk and never looked back.\u00a0 We have moved those bunk beds three times and they are still in good shape.\u00a0 They have storage drawers underneath.\u00a0 As a result of having bunk beds, the girls have a large amount of clear space in their room.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have little girls, I&#8217;ll tell you that space is a good thing.\u00a0 Little girls need room for twirling and puzzles and all of that girl paraphernalia.\u00a0 (I know boys need space too but I wouldn&#8217;t know how to elaborate on that!)\u00a0 It also gives them their own nook that no one else bothers.<\/p>\n<p>All sounds great, right?\u00a0 Wrong.\u00a0 Ever tried to change the sheets on a bunk bed?\u00a0 We just finished tucking in clean sheets, blankets and comforters on the girls&#8217; beds.\u00a0 Robert and I are both out of breath and exhausted.\u00a0 The tucking of the covers involves Robert on the lower bed pushing the top mattress up from underneath.\u00a0 I am on a stool doing the actual tucking.\u00a0 It is not easy, graceful, elegant or even attractive to watch.\u00a0 We struggle like we&#8217;re trying to shove a sleeping bag into a tube sock.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it&#8217;s our fault.\u00a0 We bought the thicker mattresses.\u00a0 Are we being punished for extravagance?\u00a0 We even tried not tucking in the covers.\u00a0 What happened?\u00a0 Abigail couldn&#8217;t keep her feet covered, got cold and ended up in bed with us.\u00a0 That is NOT an option.<\/p>\n<p>So we are left to the tucking ritual.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not fun but it works.\u00a0 It&#8217;s still better than scooping poop!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"post-excerpt\">There are several things that I have a love\/hate relationship with.\u00a0 The dishwasher.\u00a0 I love to load it up to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[160,159,158,161],"class_list":["post-294","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-random-thoughts","tag-bunk-bed","tag-hate","tag-love","tag-sheets"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/294","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=294"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/294\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":296,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/294\/revisions\/296"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=294"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=294"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/annakatedonovan.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=294"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
